Case Study: Killing two birds with one stone

Long before the most recent meltdown of two nuclear plants following the Great East Japan earthquake, Japan has been struggling to find sustainable sources for its huge energy consumption. Pressure from the local general public to lower dependency on nuclear power has urged both the state and private sectors to look for renewable energy alternatives.

Cyest to tackle two critical social issues in Japan with one solution.

The Project

Seeing the need to improve Japan’s energy self-sufficiency, Cyest co-founder Yoshiaki Kitamura took the opportunity to bring together a team of retired former executives to create a new business line that builds and invests in new renewable energy utilities, including solar panels, wind turbines and biomass plants. The company, named Cyest Energy, has now completed 14 projects all over Japan by 2019 March, generating a total of 26.4 MW. More projects are also under development.

As implied in the name Cy – as in Cycle and est – as in Best, Cyest Energy serves to optimize the resources of human talent (retired industry experts) and natural energy supply for society.
